Bruins 5, Canadiens 4 (OT)

Michael Ryder burned his former team by scoring twice - including the winner just 1:59 into overtime - as the Boston Bruins recorded a 5-4 road triumph over the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday to level their Eastern Conference quarterfinals series at two games apiece.

Chris Kelly joined Ryder with three points, Patrice Bergeron collected a goal and an assist and defenseman Andrew Ference also tallied for Northeast Division champion Boston, which will host Game 5 on Saturday night.

Tim Thomas overcame a shaky start to turn aside 34 shots to preserve the win.

In overtime, the Bruins' sustained rush ultimately led to the winning goal. Rich Peverley's initial shot sailed wide of the net, but Kelly regained possession and alertly fed Ryder, who beat Carey Price on the doorstep to stun the Bell Centre faithful.

Michael Cammalleri collected a goal and two assists, Andrei Kostitsyn and defensemen P.K. Subban and Brent Sopel also tallied for sixth-seeded Montreal, which lost both games at home in the series.

Wearing a protective mask to protect a fractured bone in his face, Kelly leveled the contest at 4-4 with 6:18 remaining in the session after banging home a loose puck on the doorstep.

Price finished with 34 saves in a losing effort.
