Canucks 4, Blackhawks 3

Daniel Sedin scored twice and added an assist and brother Henrik had a pair of helpers as the Vancouver Canucks beat Chicago 4-3 in Game 2 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series Friday night.

Jannik Hansen and Alex Edler had the other goals while Roberto Luongo made 23 saves for the Canucks, who lead the best-of-seven 2-0 as the series shifts to Chicago.

Rookie Ben Smith scored twice and Viktor Stalberg added a goal for the Hawks, who host Game 3 on Sunday night.

The Sedins were held without a point in Game 1 but went right to work Friday, as both men assisted on the opening goal. Daniel fed a wide-open Hansen from behind the goal, and he ripped a shot past Blackhawks netminder Corey Crawford from in close to put Vancouver up at 7:30.

Daniel Sedin doubled the lead 30 seconds into the middle frame, tipping a Christian Ehrhoff shot between Crawford's pads from directly in front of the Chicago goal.

Smith halved the deficit at 14:50, slapping home a loose puck after Bryan Bickell's initial shot glanced off Luongo's glove. Smith later went from hero to goat, redirecting Edler's point shot past Crawford's outstretched arm and into the net with just 14 seconds left in the period.

Chicago struck early in the third. Following a Vancouver turnover, Stalberg wristed a shot through a screen that beat Luongo low to the glove side. Daniel Sedin erased that goal with a strong individual effort, weaving between the circles before firing a wrist shot past Crawford at the midway point of the period.

The Blackhawks closed the gap once more after Smith banged home a loose puck in the slot at 12:50 of the session. Chicago pressed again in the final minute but couldn't convert with Crawford on the bench for an extra attacker.
