Blackhawks 5, Canucks 0
Duncan Keith scored twice and added two assists as the Chicago Blackhawks routed the Vancouver Canucks 5-0 in Game 5 of their Western Conference quarterfinal series Thursday night.
Chicago crushed the Canucks for the second straight game following Tuesday's 7-2 rout in the Windy City. The Blackhawks still trail the best-of-seven series 3-2, but can even things up with a home victory in Game 6 on Sunday evening.
Marian Hossa broke out of a series-long slump with two goals while Patrick Kane had the other Chicago marker. Corey Crawford stopped 36 shots for his first career postseason shutout.
After Chicago killed off a penalty on the first shift of the game, Hossa opened the scoring with his first of the playoffs on a power play at 5:54. The slumping winger skated in from his own end and navigated between a pair of Canucks skaters before wristing a shot past Vancouver netminder Roberto Luongo.
Keith gave the Blackhawks a two-goal edge 24 seconds later, blasting a shot from the point that beat Luongo over the right shoulder. Chicago added to the lead on a man advantage at 12:17, as Kane redirected a Keith slapshot past Luongo on the blocker side.
Hossa's breakaway goal 1:26 into the second period chased Luongo from the goal in favor of Cory Schneider. The change did nothing to alter Vancouver's fortunes, as Keith struck again with a shot from the top of the right circle that beat Schneider along the ice at 4:47.
Both teams played out the string over the final 35 minutes, and frustrated fans began filing out of Rogers Arena with six minutes remaining in the game.
