Red Wings 3, Wild 2 (OT)
Johan Franzen scored a power-play goal at 4:11 of overtime, rallying the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 victory over the host Minnesota Wild on Saturday night.
Ian White and Jiri Hudler also scored goals for the Red Wings, who erased a 2-0 deficit to open a season with four straight wins for the first time since 1997-98.
Franzen's goal, which was upheld by video review after the net came loose, was Detroit's first power-play tally in 19 opportunities this season.
Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard only had to make 12 saves to improve to 7-1-1 in his last nine starts against the Wild.
Josh Harding, making his first start since March 26, 2010, was sensational for Minnesota in turning aside 38 shots.
Greg Zanon and Cal Clutterbuck scored the Wild's two goals 28 seconds apart spanning the first-period intermission.
Zanon's blast from the blue line with 12 seconds left in the opening period ended a personal goal-less drought of 135 games - the second-longest active streak in the league behind Mattias Ohlund's 141.
It also snapped Detroit's shutout streak at 141 minutes, 19 seconds.
