Bruins 3, Blackhawks 2 (SO)

Nathan Horton tied the game less than eight minutes into the third period and Tyler Seguin scored the lone goal of the shootout as the Boston Bruins skated to a 3-2 road triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday in a matchup of the last two Stanley Cup champions.

Chris Kelly netted a shorthanded goal for the Bruins, who halted a two-game skid and earned coach Claude Julien his 300th career win.

After Horton converted a pass from Johnny Boychuk at 7:56 of the third to make it 2-2, Seguin beat Corey Crawford with a wrist shot in the first round of the shootout to give Boston the edge. Tim Thomas, who stopped 27 shots, made it stand, denying Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp as the Bruins improved to 3-0-2 in their last five visits to Chicago.

Bryan Bickell gave Chicago the lead late in the first period, beating Thomas on a breakaway. Kelly scored 1:33 into the second to forge a tie, but Kane restored the Blackhawks' advantage 78 seconds later with a shot from the left faceoff circle.

Crawford made 35 saves for the Blackhawks, who played without Marian Hossa due to an upper body injury.
