Blues 3, Hurricanes 2 (OT)
Matt D'Agostini scored 3:58 into overtime as the St. Louis Blues rallied to beat the Carolina Hurricanes 3-2 Friday night.
After winning the offensive zone faceoff, Vladimir Sobotka hit D'Agostini with a pinpoint pass in the crease. The former Montreal Canadiens forward made no mistake, redirecting the puck into a wide open net for his third goal of the season.
Carolina carried the play early in overtime after St. Louis defenseman Barret Jackman picked up a minor penalty for hooking, but the Hurricanes couldn't convert.
The game marked a showdown between Carolina's Anthony Stewart and his younger brother Chris, who plays for the Blues. Neither player hit the scoresheet, and both finished with a minus-one rating.
After Jay Harrison opened the scoring for Carolina at the seven-minute mark of the opening period, linemate Brandon Sutter doubled the lead early in the second, rocketing past the St. Louis defense to set up a breakaway goal.
Jason Arnott drew the Blues to within one less than four minutes later, and David Backes evened the score at 16:09 with a low snapshot off his own rebound that beat Carolina netminder Cam Ward to the stick side.
