Sharks 4, Bruins 2
Benn Ferriero’s first goal proved to be the game-winner as the visiting San Jose Sharks escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Boston Bruins on Saturday.
Joe Pavelski, Logan Couture and Patrick Marleau added goals and former Bruin Joe Thornton recorded an assist for the Sharks, who have won the first two during their current six-game road trip.
Antti Niemi made 37 saves for San Jose, which held a 2-0 lead through most of the contest before letting Boston back into it in the third.
A strong effort put the Sharks back on top at the 8:48 mark of the third. Jim Vandermeer blasted one from the blue line and Ferriero corralled the rebound in traffic, sending it into the open net as he fell to the ice.
Marleau sealed it with an empty-netter in the final seconds.
Milan Lucic put the Bruins on the board at 2:43 of the third, banging home a loose puck in front of the goal. Boston knotted it 29 seconds later when Lucic fired a quick pass across the slot to Tyler Seguin, who sent a wrister over Niemi’s shoulder to make it 2-2.
