Rangers 2, Jets 1

Ryan Callahan scored the game winner as the New York Rangers wrapped up a marathon seven-game road trip Monday night with a 2-1 triumph over the Winnipeg Jets.

Following two minutes of extended pressure by the Jets, New York was awarded a power play just before the eight-minute mark of the third period and wasted no time making it count. Callahan's centering pass glanced off the skate of Winnipeg defenseman Zach Bogosian and past a befuddled Chirs Mason to put the Rangers ahead.

Winnipeg pressed for the tying goal in the last 90 seconds but couldn't beat Rangers netminder Martin Biron, who stopped 27 shots in relief of regular starter Henrik Lundqvist (foot).

The win allowed the Rangers to complete their three-country, 18-day road swing with a 3-2-2 record. They'll finally play their home opener Thursday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Rangers opened the scoring on a power play 5:51 into the second period. Ruslan Fedotenko's redirecton of a Dan Girardi point shot slid past Mason’s pad and just inside the right post.

Nik Antropov evened things up with 5 1/2 minutes left in the frame, turning and wristing the puck past Biron on the short side for his second goal of the year.
