Blues 3, Canucks 0

Brian Elliott turned aside 32 shots and Alexander Steen continued his dominance against Vancouver with a pair of goals as the St. Louis Blues blanked the host Canucks 3-0 Wednesday night.

Elliott faced few solid scoring chances on the night, but was solid when he had to be on the way to his 10th career shutout. The 26-year-old, who opened the season as the backup to Jaroslav Halak, improved to 4-0-0 on the season.

Following a scoreless first period, Steen ended the stalemate at 7:51 of the middle period. The veteran forward banged home his own rebound of a wobbling shot past Vancouver netminder Cory Schneider.

Steen extended the lead at 6:17 of the third period, deflecting a David Backes wrist shot from the point past Schneider after the Canucks failed to clear the defensive zone. It was his ninth goal in 15 career games against Vancouver.

Patrick Berglund wrapped up the scoring with just under three minutes remaining, converting a nice feed from Kevin Shattenkirk.
