Senators 4, Panthers 3
Nick Foligno scored on a rebound with four seconds left to lift the Ottawa Senators to a wild 4-3 victory over the visiting Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Captain Daniel Alfredsson blasted a shot from the right faceoff circle which caromed off Jacob Markstrom’s left pad. Foligno streaked in for the rebound and backhanded it past the netminder for the game-winner.
That was the third goal of the final minutes, as neither team managed to gain much of an advantage.
A scrum in the Florida zone with 2:07 left resulted in Colin Greening collecting the puck on the right side and skating toward the middle. He quickly turned and fired it past Markstrom from the high slot to give the Senators a 3-2 lead.
Kris Versteeg tried to force extra time with just 48 seconds left in regulation, taking a cross-ice pass from Stephen Weiss and slapping his fifth goal into a wide-open net from the left faceoff circle.
Alfredsson added his fourth goal and Stephane Da Costa also tallied for Ottawa, which won its fourth straight game.
Craig Anderson made 22 saves for the Senators.
