Flames 3, Blues 1

Rookie Roman Horak recorded a goal and an assist as the Calgary Flames skated to a 3-1 home victory over the St. Louis Blues on Friday.

Tom Kostopoulos and Olli Jokinen also scored, Tim Jackman and Curtis Glencross notched two assists apiece and Miikka Kiprusoff made 28 saves for Calgary, which improved to 3-1-1 on its six-game homestand.

Looking to win consecutive games for the first time this season, the Flames took a 1-0 lead with 5:15 remaining in the second period when Kostopoulos beat Brian Elliott with a snap shot after Jackman's backhander missed the net.

Horak doubled the advantage by firing the puck between Elliott's pads from alone in the slot at 12:16 of the third.

Alex Steen answered 12 seconds later with his sixth goal of the season, but St. Louis was unable to get the equalizer past Kiprusoff, who improved to 20-5-2 lifetime against the Blues. Jokinen added an empty-netter to seal the win.

Elliott stopped 15 shots for St. Louis, which had its three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 2-1-0 on its four-game road trip.
