Wild 1, Red Wings 0

Josh Harding turned aside 36 shots for his first shutout in 21 months to lift the host Minnesota Wild to a 1-0 victory over the slumping Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

Dany Heatley scored the game's only goal midway through the first period as the Wild snapped a four-game losing streak against Detroit and sent the Red Wings to their fourth consecutive defeat.

Harding, in only his second start of the season, registered his first shutout since Jan. 28, 2010, at Colorado – also a 1-0 victory. He missed the entire 2010-11 season due to injury.

Heatley provided Harding with the only goal he would need, breaking down the right wing and whistling a shot past Jimmy Howard into the top left corner for a 1-0 lead at 10:51.

Minnesota had a goal waved off earlier in the period when it was ruled that Nick Johnson used his skate to direct the puck into the net.

Howard made 19 saves in losing to Minnesota for only the second time in nine starts since the start of the 2009-10 season.
