Lightning 4, Panthers 3 (SO)

Dwayne Roloson turned aside all 29 shots during regulation and overtime, then stopped all four attempts in the shootout as the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning recorded a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers on Sunday.

Roloson, who came on in relief of starter Mathieu Garon with the Lightning trailing 3-0 in the first period, also stopped a wide-open Stephen Weiss with 5 seconds left in overtime. Dominic Moore scored the only shootout goal.

Teddy Purcell tied the game at 3-3 just 8:11 into the third period, tipping the rebound of Steve Downie's shot over the goal line.

The Lightning pulled within 3-2 after two periods when Ryan Malone capitalized a rebound on the power play at 16:20 and Steven Stamkos converted a nifty pass by Matt Gilroy 1:34 later. It was Stamkos’ 10th goal, tying him with Toronto’s Phil Kessel for the league lead.

Florida outshot the Lightning by a 16-9 margin and won 15 of 21 faceoffs to jump to a 3-0 lead after one period.

Defenseman Brian Campbell scored his first goal of the season at 1:49 on the power play. Tomas Kopecky and Mike Santorelli added goals 2:16 apart later and Garon was pulled after giving up three on 12 shots.

Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman, who leads the team in ice time, was a late scratch due to an upper-body injury. Malone also did not return for the third period with an upper-body injury.
