Panthers 5, Maple Leafs 1

Jack Skille and Marco Sturm scored their first goals of the season and Jose Theodore turned in a 38-save performance as the Florida Panthers handed Toronto its second straight one-sided loss, routing the host Maple Leafs 5-1 Tuesday.

Five different players had goals for the Panthers against Toronto, which has now been outscored 12-1 in consecutive home defeats to Boston and Florida.

Skille had the lone goal of the first period, beating an out-of-position Jonas Gustavsson with a nice individual effort at 9:45.

Sturm made it 2-0 at the 16:28 mark of the second period and Tomas Kopecky extended the lead - and chased Gustavsson in the process - with a quick wrist shot that beat the Toronto netminder on the glove side.

Sean Bergenheim made it 4-0 early in the third before Phil Kessel finally ended Toronto's shutout streak at 125 minutes, converting a rebound past Theodore for his league-best 11th of the season.

Shawn Matthias rounded out the scoring for the Panthers with 3:25 remaining.

The start of the contest was delayed as Toronto held its annual Remembrance Day ceremony honoring Canadian soldiers who lost their lives in battle.
