Bobby Butler scored twice in the third period as the Ottawa Senators halted a five-game losing streak at the Scotiabank Saddledome with a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Flames on Tuesday.
Captain Daniel Alfredsson also tallied and Craig Anderson made 38 saves for Ottawa, which has won two straight following a five-game skid and improved to 2-1-0 on its six-game road trip.
Butler gave the Senators a 2-1 lead midway through the third when he carried the puck down the right wing and fired a snap shot over Miikka Kiprusoff's left shoulder for his first goal of the season.
Butler doubled the advantage - and capped his second career two-goal performance - with less than four minutes remaining by beating Kiprusoff with a slapper from the right faceoff circle.
Alfredsson snapped a scoreless tie with 1:16 remaining in the second period with a shot from the low slot. But Calgary answered 62 seconds later as Tom Kostopoulos converted a pass from Matt Stajan following a turnover behind the net by Anderson.
Kiprusoff stopped 29 shots for the Flames, who have scored just 16 goals in nine home games this season.
