Rich Peverley and David Krejci scored in the shootout as the Boston Bruins extended their winning streak to seven games with a 2-1 victory over the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night.
Tuukka Rask made 30 saves and stuffed Antoine Vermette on the final attempt in the shootout to win his third straight start and help the Bruins wrap up a perfect five-game homestand.
Defenseman Adam McQuaid scored in regulation for Boston, which kept the Blue Jackets winless in their last 13 games (0-10-3) away from home dating to last season.
Derek MacKenzie had a power-play goal and Curtis Sanford turned aside 26 shots in his first start of the season for Columbus, which picked up its first point in eight road games.
Columbus broke on top when MacKenzie scored with one second left on the power play, deflecting a shot by Nikita Nikitin past Rask at 2:49 of the second.
The Bruins responded less than two minutes later on a similar-type goal. McQuaid threw in a shot from the right point that appeared to glance off the glove of Blue Jackets defenseman Grant Clitsome and into the net.
Earlier in the day, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara learned he will not face criminal charges for his brutal hit on Montreal Canadiens left wing Max Pacioretty during a game in March.
