Flames 5, Blackhawks 2
Curtis Glencross collected two goals and an assist and Rene Bourque and rookie Paul Byron scored 17 seconds apart in the second period as the Calgary Flames snapped the Chicago Blackhawks' four-game winning streak with a 5-2 home triumph on Friday.
Lee Stempniak also tallied and Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside 30 shots for Calgary, which snapped a three-game home losing skid by winning for the second time in three contests.
After the teams exchanged goals in the first period, Bourque put Calgary ahead just 40 seconds into the second by scoring for the first time since Oct. 26.
Shortly after Bourque's wrister beat Corey Crawford on the glove side, Byron doubled the advantage after taking advantage of a turnover and backhanding the puck past the netminder.
The quick tallies whipped the Scotiabank Saddledome into a frenzy and Glencross provided insurance by scoring twice as the Flames evened the season series at one game apiece. The Blackhawks posted a 4-1 home victory on Nov. 11.
Viktor Stalberg scored to extend his point streak to five games and Marian Hossa added a power-play goal for Central Division-leading Chicago, which fell for just the fifth time in its last 20 meetings with Calgary.
