Wild 3, Predators 2
Kyle Brodziak scored the go-ahead goal on a power play in the third period as the Minnesota Wild rallied to earn their fifth straight win with a 3-2 triumph over the visiting Nashville Predators on Wednesday.
Dany Heatley netted his sixth goal of the season and Cal Clutterbuck’s shorthanded tally proved to be the game-winner for the Wild, who have won 10 of their last 12.
The Predators grabbed the early lead when Jordin Tootoo scored his second goal at the 5:21 mark of the first period. The game would remain that way until the third period, when Minnesota finally figured out Pekka Rinne.
Heatley tied it at the 1:05 mark, taking a feed from Mikko Koivu and slapping a shot over Rinne’s right shoulder.
Brodziak struck at the 9:39 mark, taking advantage of defenseman Ryan Suter’s slashing penalty with his fifth tally. Clutterbuck provided the breathing room with the Wild down a man. The Ontario native got an assist from Koivu and wristed a shot past Rinne on the glove side.
Suter would draw Nashville back within a goal 38 seconds later on the power play, but Josh Harding held them off the rest of the way. Harding finished with 23 saves.
