Red Wings 3, Bruins 2 (SO)

Pavel Datsyuk and Todd Bertuzzi scored in the shootout as the visiting Detroit Red Wings halted the Boston Bruins' 10-game winning streak with a 3-2 victory Friday afternoon in the inaugural Thanksgiving Showdown.

Datsyuk and Valtteri Filppula also tallied in regulation as the Red Wings beat the Bruins for the fourth straight time and extended their winning streak to four in a row.

Jimmy Howard turned aside 41 shots and stopped two shots in the shootout to earn his fourth consecutive victory and give the Red Wings eight wins in their last 10 games.

Daniel Paille and Patrice Bergeron scored in regulation and Nathan Horton tallied in the shootout for Boston, which had the longest streak by a defending Stanley Cup champion since the New Jersey Devils reeled off 13 straight wins in 2000-01.

Filppula gave Detroit the early lead, finishing a give-and-go with Henrik Zetterberg at 12:43 of the first and shoveling a deft backhand pass by Tuukka Rask at 12:43 of the first.

Paille tied it at 4:05 of the second, taking advantage of a giveaway by Howard and converting a pass by Horton.

Datsyuk answered only 35 seconds later with a slick goal, kicking the puck to himself and veering around Rask for his fourth goal and ninth point during a five-game streak.

Another Detroit giveaway, this time by Zetterberg at the left faceoff circle, led to Bergeron's unassisted tying tally at 7:52 of the third.
