Bruins 4, Jets 2

Chris Kelly scored a pair of second-period goals to rally the Boston Bruins to a 4-2 victory over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.

Tim Thomas turned aside a season-high 40 shots to win his eighth consecutive start as the Bruins overcame an early 2-0 deficit to beat Winnipeg for the ninth straight time at TD Garden.

Defenseman Zdeno Chara had a power-play tally and Brad Marchand added an empty-net goal for Boston, which has points in 12 consecutive games (11-0-1) for the first time since 2004.

Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien scored 39 seconds apart in the opening period for the Jets, who lost in regulation for the first time in the last six games (4-1-1).

Rich Peverley collected two assists, including Nos. 100 and 101 of his career against his former teammates, as Boston improved to 10-0-0 when leading after two periods.

Peverley did all the work on the tying tally in the second period, busting up the right side and veering in on net before he was stopped. Kelly swept in to gather the loose puck in the crease and stuffed it home for his first goal.

Kelly put Boston ahead to stay at 16:26 of the second, taking a cross-ice pass from Benoit Pouliot and blasting a one-timer from the right faceoff dot past Ondrej Pavelec, who fell to 0-4-0 in his last five games in Boston.
