Bruins 3, Penguins 1

Tim Thomas turned aside a season-high 45 shots to win his 10th consecutive start, leading the red-hot Boston Bruins to a 3-1 victory over the host Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night.

Gregory Campbell, Benoit Pouliot and Tyler Seguin scored goals as Boston won its fourth straight and extended its points streak to 15 games (14-0-1).

Rich Peverley added a pair of assists for the Bruins, who remained unbeaten since Oct. 29 and handed the Penguins their first regulation home loss in nine games.

Thomas came up big in the second period, making 17 saves and thwarting Pittsburgh on a pair of 5-on-3 power plays – one that lasted 70 seconds and another the full two minutes.

Campbell put Boston on top at 2:57 of the second, chipping a backhander past Marc-Andre Fleury inside the post to end a 12-game goalless drought. After the Bruins killed off the first 5-on-3, Pouliot doubled the lead when he took a feed from Peverley and beat Fleury high to the glove side at 7:18.

Seguin netted his team-high 13th goal on the power play 67 seconds into the third period, accepting a cross-ice pass from Patrice Bergeron and blasting a one-timer past Fleury for a 3-0 cushion.

Matt Cooke broke up Thomas' bid for a fourth shutout during his streak with a goal midway through the final period.

Pittsburgh got a major scare in the third when superstar Sidney Crosby collided hard with teammate Chris Kunitz and skated off the ice favoring his right leg. He returned shortly thereafter.
