Claude Giroux capped a four-point night by converting a breakaway at 2:37 of overtime as the Philadelphia Flyers skated to a 5-4 road triumph over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday.
Giroux intercepted defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani's ill-advised pass in the neutral zone before beating Ryan Miller between the pads. With a goal and three assists, Giroux moved past Toronto Maple Leafs right wing Phil Kessel for the NHL lead with 36 points.
Jaromir Jagr, Max Talbot, rookie Matt Read and Scott Hartnell also scored for Philadelphia, which erased a three-goal deficit for the second time in five days. The Flyers scored four unanswered goals in Friday's victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Ilya Bryzgalov overcame a shaky start to turn aside 20 shots and improve to 8-1-1 in his last 10 decisions.
With 1:35 remaining in the third period, Drew Stafford leveled the contest at 4-4 after accepting a centering feed and wristing a shot just under the crossbar for his first goal since Nov. 4.
Rookie Zack Kassian collected a goal and an assist and former Flyer Ville Leino and Thomas Vanek scored on the power play for Buffalo, which fell to 2-4-2 in its last eight games.
