Blackhawks 3, Islanders 2 (OT)

Patrick Sharp scored 1:34 into overtime to complete a three-point night as the visiting Chicago Blackhawks posted a 3-2 road victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday.

Marian Hossa added a goal and two assists and Ray Emery made 31 saves for the Blackhawks, who have won five of seven to maintain first place in the Central Division.

In overtime, Hossa picked off a pass in the Chicago zone and turned up ice on a 2-on-1 rush. Hossa sent in a wrister that Al Montoya blocked, but Sharp was right there on the other side to pick up the rebound and tap it in for his 15th tally of the season.

The Islanders earned a point in their sixth straight game after losing 14 of the previous 16 contests.

The Blackhawks built a 2-0 lead before New York stormed back, cutting it to 2-1 when P.A. Parenteau sent a quick pass to Travis Hamonic, who blasted a slap shot from above the left faceoff circle and over Ray Emery’s shoulder.

The Islanders tied it on a similar tally with 9:11 left in the third period. Frans Nielsen got a long pass off to Steve Staios, who blasted his first goal from above the right circle.
