Jiri Hudler scored twice and kicked off a four-goal second-period barrage that lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a comfortable 7-1 triumph over the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Saturday night.
With Detroit already ahead 2-1 after one period, Hudler's goal at 4:03 of the middle frame was the catalyst for a dominant 8 1/2-minute stretch for the Red Wings, who have won eight of 10.
Chris Conner's first goal in a Detroit uniform extended the advantage 40 seconds later, and Valtteri Filppula made it 5-1 on a conversion of a spectacular backhand pass from Pavel Datsyuk just past the midway point of the period.
Drew Miller extended the lead at 12:41 and the Red Wings cruised from there to end Winnipeg's four-game winning streak.
Todd Bertuzzi and Henrik Zetterberg had first-period goals while Hudler added a third-period tally that chased starting Winnipeg netminder Ondrej Pavelec from the net.
Winnipeg's Bryan Little countered in defeat with his eighth goal in 10 games.
