Blackhawks 3, Sharks 2 (OT)

Patrick Sharp scored the game-winner at the 4:26 mark of overtime as the Chicago Blackhawks came from behind to edge the visiting San Jose Sharks 3-2 on Sunday.

Andrew Brunette scored the tying goal late in regulation and Marina Hossa recorded a pair of assists for Chicago.

Hossa took the initial shot on the game-winner, sending a wrister from the right point that Antti Niemi blocked. The rebound skipped out in front and Sharp came in on the left side and whacked at it twice, pushing his 16th goal past Niemi to secure the Blackhawks’ fourth win in the last five games.

Brunette tied it with 1:06 left in regulation. Coming out of a timeout, Jonathan Toews won a faceoff and Chicago shifted the puck from Duncan Keith to Hossa, who sent a slap shot from above the right point that Brunette redirected past Niemi.

The Blackhawks failed to clear the puck in the second period and Brad Winchester ended up with it on the end line. Winchester sent a pass through traffic to the right faceoff circle, where Justin Braun was waiting to slap it past Ray Emery for his first goal of the season and a 2-1 lead.

Emery was making back-to-back starts for the first time this season and finished with 35 saves.
