Stars 1, Rangers 0

Trevor Daley scored with less than five minutes left and Richard Bachman earned his first career shutout as the Dallas Stars blanked the host New York Rangers 1-0 Tuesday night.

Daley scored his third goal of the season, and second consecutive game winner, by finishing off a give and go with Mike Ribeiro.

Bachman, making just his second NHL start, made 34 saves - including several late in the game as the Rangers pushed for an equalizer. Bachman’s best save came late in the second period when he somehow managed to get across his crease to rob Ryan McDonagh on a shorthanded 2-on-1 attempt.

Bachman also had a few fortunate moments - first when Marian Gaborik hit the crossbar on a power play late on the first period, and then when Brian Boyle hit the post early in the final frame.

The Stars’ rookie netminder has stopped 71 of 72 shots he has faced through seven periods of action this year.
