Blackhawks 4, Wild 3 (SO)

Captain Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane scored in the shootout while Ray Emery made a pair of stops as the Chicago Blackhawks posted a 4-3 road triumph over the league-leading Minnesota Wild on Wednesday.

Toews added a goal and an assist in regulation, Marian Hossa and Michael Frolik also tallied and Emery made 27 saves for Chicago, which extended its road winning streak to five games and improved to 7-1-1 in its last nine meetings with Minnesota.

Toews wristed the puck between Niklas Backstrom's pads on the Blackhawks' first shootout attempt and Kane made the Minnesota goaltender commit to a backhand deke before burying a shot to seal the win.

Emery had denied Matt Cullen and Dany Heatley on the Wild's two attempts.

After a scoreless first period, Chicago took a 2-0 lead when Hossa and Frolik tallied 89 seconds apart midway through the second. The Wild forged a tie shortly thereafter as Kyle Brodziak and Cullen scored in a 2 1/2-minute span.

Cullen's goal was his first in 13 games.

Toews put the Blackhawks back in front less than seven minutes into the third with his 18th of the season. But Minnesota pulled even when captain Mikko Koivu converted a pass from Cal Clutterbuck during a delayed penalty on Chicago with 5:04 remaining.

Clutterbuck notched two assists and Backstrom stopped 28 shots for the Wild, who have dropped two straight following a seven-game winning streak.
