Stars 3, Islanders 2

Jamie Benn scored to snap a tie just over 4 1/2 minutes into the third period as the Dallas Stars enjoyed another trip to Long Island with a 3-2 triumph over the New York Islanders on Thursday.

Loui Eriksson recorded just his second tally in 12 contests and captain Brenden Morrow also scored for Pacific Division-leading Dallas, which improved to 9-2-1 on Long Island since the start of the 1996-97 season. The Stars also upped their mark to 3-1-0 on their current five-game road trip.

Coming off his first career shutout, rookie Richard Bachman improved to 3-0-0 on the season after turning aside 25 shots, including all 14 in the third period.

After Kyle Okposo recorded his second multi-point game in three contests with a goal late in the second period, Morrow leveled the contest just 67 seconds into the third.

Benn gave Dallas a 3-2 advantage at the 4:33 mark of the session after converting a 2-on-1 by wristing a shot from the right faceoff circle past Kevin Poulin, who was making his first start of the season.

Michael Grabner also tallied and Poulin finished with 26 saves for New York, which suffered its fourth straight loss (0-3-1).

Islanders veteran Brian Rolston, 38, exited the contest in the first period after sustaining a concussion.
