Lightning 5, Flames 4 (OT)

Steven Stamkos tapped in an Eric Brewer feed 30 seconds into overtime to give the Tampa Bay Lightning a 5-4 victory over the visiting Calgary Flames on Thursday.

It was the league-leading 19th goal for Stamkos, who also had an assist to give the Lightning their sixth straight victory – four in OT and two in shootouts – in extra time.

Olli Jokinen tied the score at 4-4 for Calgary with 3:12 left in regulation, deflecting home an Alex Tanguay feed on the power play.

Rene Bourque scored on a breakaway 58 seconds into the third to draw the Flames within 4-3. Defenseman Derek Smith assisted on both goals for the Flames.

The Lightning held the Flames without a shot for more than 14 minutes in the second period and turned a one-goal deficit into a 4-2 lead.

Tom Pyatt popped in a rebound at 10:10 and Ryan Malone one-timed a shot from the top of the left circle past Calgary goalie Miikka Kiprusoff at 12:05. Nate Thompson scored at 19:26 when his shot caromed in off Calgary defenseman Chris Butler for a 4-2 lead.

Defenseman Victor Hedman assisted on two of the goals for the Lightning, who had 18 shots in the second period - their most in any period this season.

Teddy Purcell scored for the first time in 17 games for the Lightning in the first period when his pass from behind the goal line went in off Butler’s hip.
