Red Wings 3, Oilers 2
Drew Miller's goal with 3:15 left in regulation guided the Detroit Red Wings to their third straight win, a 3-2 triumph over the Edmonton Oilers on Monday.
Miller redirected a Nicklas Lidstrom slapshot past Edmonton netminder Nikolai Khabibulin for his fourth goal in the last five games. The Red Wings held on from there to extend their winning streak against the Oilers to seven games.
Edmonton has dropped nine of 11 overall.
After Daniel Cleary put Detroit ahead with the lone goal of the first period, Ryan Jones drew the Oilers even 2:37 into the second. The veteran bruiser fired a shot between the pads of Detroit netminder Jimmy Howard for his 11th goal of the season, and second in as many games.
Jiri Hudler gave the Red Wings the lead with 5:24 remaining in the period, redirecting a Henrik Zetterberg attempt for his fifth goal in seven games.
Edmonton responded on a power-play with five-tenths of a second left in the frame, as Jordan Eberle wired a shot from the slot that eluded Howard.
