Senators 4, Panthers 3 (OT)
Bobby Butler scored the game-winner at the 2:02 mark of overtime to lift the Ottawa Senators to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Kyle Turris sent a pass to Butler on the left boards to start the sequence. Butler fired a hard pass into the slot intended for Erik Karlsson, but the puck glanced off Panthers defenseman Brian Campbellās skate and deflected past Scott Clemmensen to give the Senators the win.
Daniel Alfredsson recorded a goal and two assists and Chris Neil and Karlsson each added a goal and an assist for Ottawa.
Florida forced overtime when Tomas Kopecky struck with 1:12 left in regulation, scoring on a drag play from the doorstep after the Panthers brought on an extra attacker.
Alfredsson had given the Senators a 2-1 lead with his 10th goal on the power play, only to have the Panthers strike back on their own power play 1:27 later, with Shawn Matthias wristing a shot past Craig Anderson from the right faceoff circle.
Karlsson tallied on a snap shot from the point 38 seconds later.
Senators left wing Nick Foligno was ejected for charging in the second period. Foligno launched himself shoulder-first into Keaton Ellerby, earning a game misconduct.
