Ducks 3, Sharks 2

Andrew Cogliano scored midway through the second period to snap a tie and Jonas Hiller turned aside 36 shots as the Anaheim Ducks ended a 13-game road losing skid with a 3-2 triumph over the San Jose Sharks on Monday.

Defenseman Luca Sbisa netted his first goal of the season and Bobby Ryan also tallied for Anaheim, which won for just the sixth time in 30 games and improved to 3-10-5 away from home this season. The road victory was the Ducks' first since Oct. 27.

After the teams traded goals in the first period, Ryan took advantage of Joe Thornton's giveaway and beat Antti Niemi on a breakaway at 3:42 of the second.

Jamie McGinn leveled the contest 3 1/2 minutes later, but Cogliano gave Anaheim its third lead of the game by wristing a shot past Niemi and inside the far post for first goal since Dec. 2.

Hiller did the rest from there, including turning away 18 shots in the third period to deny the Sharks a chance to claim sole possession of first place in the Pacific Division. San Jose and Dallas remained tied with 41 points.

Joe Pavelski pulled into a share of the team lead with his 15th goal and Niemi finished with 20 saves for San Jose, which fell to 4-1-0 on its current six-game homestand.
