Islanders 4, Oilers 1
Matt Moulson had a goal and two assists to lead the New York Islanders to a 4-1 win over the visiting Edmonton Oilers in a New Year's Eve matinee.
Moulson's first multi-assist effort of the season lifted the Islanders to their second straight win following a three-game losing skid.
The Oilers are now 0-3-0 on their marathon seven-game road trip.
John Tavares opened the scoring at 3:44. With the Islanders enjoying a power-play, the former first overall pick tapped a puck from the edge of the crease past Edmonton netminder Devan Dubnyk.
Sam Gagner evened things just before the 13-minute mark, redirecting a Corey Potter point shot past Islanders goalie Evgeni Nabokov.
Tavares made a highlight reel play to set up the go-ahead goal five minutes later, executing a spin-o-rama pass to Moulson for his team-high 17th goal of the season.
P.A. Parenteau and Matt Martin added goals 46 seconds apart early in the second period to put the game away.
