Stars 4, Bruins 2
Michael Ryder burned his former team by scoring to cap a three-goal first period as the Dallas Stars snapped the Boston Bruins' seven-game winning streak with a 4-2 home triumph on Saturday.
Defenseman Trevor Daley collected a goal and two assists, Loui Eriksson scored on a 5-on-3 power play and Kari Lehtonen turned aside 18 shots as Dallas defeated Boston for the first time in four contests.
After playing a pivotal role in the Bruins' magical Stanley Cup run in the spring, Ryder signed a two-year deal with Dallas in the offseason.
He quickly reintroduced himself to his former mates by scoring with 40 seconds left in the first period. After accepting Jamie Benn's brilliant cross-slot feed, Ryder deked to his left before backhanding the puck past Tim Thomas for his team-leading 15th goal of the season and sixth in seven games.
Tom Wandell gave Dallas a 4-1 edge after converting Adam Burish's feed at the doorstep. The four goals allowed by Thomas served as a season high.
Milan Lucic scored for the third time in four games and Tyler Seguin added his 15th goal of the season for Boston, which fell to 21-3-1 since the start of November.
Thomas turned aside 23 shots to fall to 13-2-0 in his last 15 games.
