Senators 3, Devils 2 (OT)

Daniel Alfredsson scored four minutes into overtime as the Senators won their third straight game, 3-2 over the New Jersey Devils on Monday in Ottawa.

Alfredsson scored his 400th NHL goal in overtime last week. No. 401 came on an OT power play, with David Clarkson serving a hooking penalty.

Craig Anderson made 27 saves to improve to 18-12-3 on the season.

The Senators forced overtime with two goals in the third period to erase a 2-0 New Jersey lead. First, Jason Spezza tallied his 14th of the season just 1:21 into the period when Erik Karlsson sent the Ottawa sniper in all alone on Brodeur.

Erik Condra tied the game at 13:17 with a shorthanded marker that fooled Brodeur. Condra’s seventh of the season snuck between Brodeur’s arm and his body.

After a scoreless first period, Dainius Zubrus opened the scoring for the Devils at 7:47 of the middle frame when he pushed a Petr Sykora rebound past Anderson. It was his 11th goal of the season and 200th of his NHL career. The assist gave Sykora 699 career points.

Clarkson doubled the lead when he buried his 14th goal of the season at 14:18, finishing off a pass from Mattias Tedenby. It was Clarkson’s fourth point (three goals, one assist) in four games.
