Oilers 4, Blackhawks 3

Ryan Smyth and Taylor Hall each recorded a goal and an assist as the Edmonton Oilers halted a seven-game road losing streak with a 4-3 triumph over the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday.

Defenseman Andy Sutton and Ben Eager also scored, Jordan Eberle added two assists and Devan Dubnyk made 39 saves en route to his first win in a month for Edmonton, which is 1-3-0 on its season-high seven-game road trip.

The victory was a costly one for the Oilers, who lost rookie forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) and defenseman Tom Gilbert (knee) to injury.

Captain Jonathan Toews scored from the high slot in the first period to give Chicago the lead. But Smyth and Hall cashed in during a five-minute power play midway through the second to put Edmonton ahead.

Hall's goal was his 11th of the season and fourth against the Blackhawks.

After Andrew Brunette tied the contest on a deflection with less than 7 1/2 minutes remaining in the middle session, Sutton converted a backhand pass from Eberle with 3:37 left to give the Oilers a 3-2 edge.

Eager beat Corey Crawford with a backhander from the right faceoff circle 8:17 into the third to provide a two-goal advantage. Jimmy Hayes scored his first career goal with less than four minutes left to get Chicago within one, but Edmonton successfully killed a late penalty to hold on for its third win in 12 games overall.

Crawford stopped 26 shots for the Blackhawks, who completed a 3-2-0 homestand.
