Bruins 6, Devils 1
Patrice Bergeron scored twice and Milan Lucic recorded his second
three-assist game of the season as the Boston Bruins netted six
unanswered goals to cruise to a 6-1 road victory over the New Jersey
Devils on Wednesday.
Nathan Horton had a power-play goal, Gregory Campbell, David Krejci and
Shawn Thornton also tallied and Tim Thomas turned aside 30 shots for
Boston, which has won eight of its last nine and 22 of 26 (22-3-1).
Horton gave the Bruins a 2-1 lead with 6:43 remaining in the first
period. Lucic fed Krejci in the right faceoff circle before the latter
issued a cross-slot pass to Horton, who tapped the puck past
Martin Brodeur for his 10th goal of the season - and fifth with the man
advantage.
Bergeron put Boston ahead 3-1 just 4:02 into the second period. With
New Jersey on the power play, Bergeron forced a turnover in the neutral
zone, skated in on Brodeur and used a series of dekes before tucking the
puck past the future Hall of Famer.
Bergeron and Krejci scored 2:37 apart early in the third period as Brodeur fell to Boston for the fifth consecutive time.
David Clarkson secured his team-leading 15th goal by scoring in his
third straight contest for New Jersey, which saw its season-high
three-game home winning streak come to an end.
