Predators 3, Avalanche 2 (OT)
David Legwand netted his second goal of the game just 34 seconds into overtime as the Nashville Predators swept a home-and-home series against the visiting Colorado Avalanche by rallying for a 3-2 triumph on Thursday.
In overtime, Legwand's initial shot on goal was denied by Jean-Sebastien Giguere, but he cleaned up the rebound for his 12th goal of the season.
All-Star defenseman Shea Weber was credited with an assist and Pekka Rinne turned aside 27 shots for Nashville, which has won six of its last seven games overall and seven straight versus Colorado.
With his team trailing 2-0 after the first period, Legwand trimmed the deficit to one midway through the second after cleaning up a rebound off a shot from Matt Halischuk. Sergei Kostitsyn then leveled the contest 8:48 into the third by wristing the puck past Giguere.
Rookie Gabriel Landeskog, who will represent Colorado in the All-Star skills competition, joined Ryan O'Reilly by scoring as the Avalanche dropped their third straight game.
Giguere, who fell to 16-7-3 in his career against the Predators, finished with 32 saves.
