Islanders 4, Sabres 2

Michael Grabner scored two goals and Evgeni Nabokov made 23 saves to record his 300th career win as the New York Islanders posted a 4-2 victory over the visiting Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.

Grabner snapped a tie with 3:03 remaining in the third period after cleaning up a rebound through heavy traffic. He added his 13th of the season to hand the Sabres their eighth straight road loss of the season.

Thomas Vanek hit the goal post on a penalty shot with 1:24 left in the third period.

Patrick Kaleta and Derek Roy scored 2:10 apart in the second period, each erasing one-goal Islander leads. Roy tied the game at 2-2 at 16:58 of the middle session with his ninth of the season.

Just 42 seconds earlier, Kyle Okposo gave the Islanders a 2-1 lead with his 11th of the season when he finished off a 2-on-1 rush with Matt Moulson.

Kaleta put Buffalo on the board at 14:48 of the second period when he tipped in his third of the season off defenseman Mike Weber's point shot.

Moulson opened the scoring at 13:10 of the first period with his team leading 21st of the season. All-Star John Tavares extended his point streak to nine games with an assist on the play.
