Red Wings 5, Sabres 0

Pavel Datsyuk collected three assists to notch 700 points in his NHL career and fellow All-Star Jimmy Howard made 27 saves for his league-leading 27th win as the Detroit Red Wings posted a franchise-record 15th straight home triumph with a 5-0 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Monday.

Detroit's stretch of victories accounts for the longest single-season home winning streak since 1976. The Philadelphia Flyers went on to win 20 in a row.

The Red Wings, who won their third straight game, have outscored their opponents by a 55-13 margin during their home winning streak. They last won 14 in a row in 1965.

Howard, who collected his fifth shutout of the season, has started every game during Detroit's streak.

Todd Bertuzzi, who also had two assists, and Darren Helm scored 13 seconds apart in the second period to end the night of Ryan Miller, who gave up five goals on 14 shots.

The Red Wings opened a 3-0 lead in the first period. Henrik Zetterberg struck first with his ninth of the season and first goal in 14 games. Johan Franzen netted his team-leading 18th of the season at 18:11 after receiving a backhand, cross ice breakaway pass from Datsyuk. Captain Nicklas Lidstrom added his ninth with 17 seconds left.

It was the Sabres' franchise worst ninth straight road loss.
