Captain David Backes had two goals and two assists and the red-hot St. Louis Blues sent the reeling Buffalo Sabres to their 12th consecutive road loss with a 4-2 triumph on Saturday night.

Jaroslav Halak turned aside 19 shots as the Blues extended their winning streak to four games with their league-high 21st home victory.

B.J. Crombeen scored his first goal of the season and David Perron also tallied to help St. Louis improve to 8-0-1 this month and push its home points streak to a franchise-record 15 games (13-0-2).

Despite seeing his shutout streak snapped at a career-best 164 minutes, 38 seconds, Halak remained unbeaten in regulation in his last 14 starts (11-0-3).

Mike Weber and Tyler Myers scored for Buffalo, which absorbed its fifth consecutive defeat overall and hasn't won away from home since Dec. 3 – the last day St. Louis lost in regulation at the Scottrade Center.

T.J. Oshie and Alex Pietrangelo collected two assists each for St. Louis. Pietrangelo extended his points streak to a career-high nine games, the longest by a defenseman this season.
