Flyers 3, Panthers 2 (SO)
Claude Giroux scored in the second round and Sergei Bobrovsky stopped all three shootout attempts as the visiting Philadelphia Flyers beat the Florida Panthers 3-2 on Tuesday.
Giroux faked left and drew Scott Clemmensen out of position for the lone goal of the shootout. Mike Santorelli had a chance to keep the Panthers alive in the third round but Bobrovsky swallowed up his shot.
Brayden Schenn and Jakub Voracek scored first-period goals for the Flyers, who won for the fourth straight time at Florida. Bobrovsky finished with 23 saves.
After Mikael Samuelsson gave the Panthers the lead at 2:49, Schenn converted on the power play at 10:15 and Voracek doubled the advantage roughly seven minutes later.
The Panthers caught the Flyers during a line change in the second period to get the equalizer. Kris Versteeg broke in on net and flicked a backhand that drew Bobrovsky off his line. The short rebound was corralled and finished uncontested by Thomas Fleischmann for his 16th of the season at 15:40.
Clemmensen stopped 35 shots as Florida lost for the fifth time in six games.
