Canucks 3, Avalanche 2 (SO)

Kevin Bieksa scored the tying goal with 35 seconds left in regulation and Mason Raymond converted the only tally in the shootout as the visiting Vancouver Canucks escaped with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.

Roberto Luongo made 44 saves and turned aside all three attempts in the shootout to give the Canucks their eighth win in the last nine against Colorado.

Ryan Kesler also scored for Vancouver, which improved to 4-0-5 in shootouts and sent the Avalanche to their fifth consecutive defeat.

It was the sixth consecutive game decided by one goal for the Canucks, who have gone beyond regulation in seven of their last nine (6-1-2).

Jay McClement and David Jones scored goals for Colorado, which had been shut out in its last two meetings vs. the Canucks.

McClement ended an 18-game goalless drought with his go-ahead tally at 3:39 of the second period and Jean-Sebastien Giguere made it stand up until Bieksa's dramatic trying goal.

Kesler opened the scoring 3 1/2 minutes into the first period, ripping a slap shot past Giguere for his 16th goal of the season.

Jones tied it less than six minutes with his third goal in 26 games, ending Colorado 's scoreless string of 176 minutes, 27 seconds against Vancouver.
