Panthers 3, Kings 1

Sean Bergenheim and Mike Santorelli scored second-period goals and Scott Clemmensen came within 2:28 of his second shutout of the season as the Florida Panthers skated to a 3-1 home triumph over the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday.

Matt Bradley also tallied, Shawn Matthias added a pair of assists and Clemmensen made 22 saves for Florida, which improved to 3-0-2 in its last five home games.

After a scoreless first period, Bergenheim got the Panthers on the board less than five minutes into the second. Marcel Goc's pass attempt was blocked by a defender, but Bergenheim slapped the loose puck past All-Star Jonathan Quick from the top of the slot for his 10th goal of the season.

Santorelli doubled the lead with 2:46 remaining in the session, beating Quick from the right faceoff dot after receiving a pass from the corner by Tomas Fleischmann.

Defenseman Drew Doughty spoiled Clemmensen's shutout bid and got the Kings within a goal late in the third with a shot from the right hash marks. But Bradley ended any hopes of a comeback with an empty-net tally in the final minute.

Quick made 11 saves over two periods before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier, who stopped all 11 shots he faced in the third.

Los Angeles, which had its seven-game winning streak against Florida snapped, fell to 1-3-0 on its six-game road trip.
