Oilers 4, Senators 3 (OT)
Taylor Hall scored 17 seconds into overtime as the Edmonton Oilers ended an eight-game road losing streak with a 4-3 triumph over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday afternoon during Hockey Day in Canada.
Captain Shawn Horcoff and Ben Eager scored and Magnus Paajarvi netted his first goal of the campaign for Edmonton, which secured its last road win on Jan. 2 with a 4-3 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks.
Nikolai Khabibulin turned aside 39 shots to post his first win since Dec. 22.
In overtime, Hall pounced on a rebound and backhanded the puck past Craig Anderson for his 19th goal of the season.
Defenseman Erik Karlsson leveled the contest at 3-3 midway through the third period by wristing a shot through traffic and past Khabibulin. The point was Karlsson's 50th of the season.
Fellow All-Stars Daniel Alfredsson and Milan Michalek also tallied for Ottawa, which has dropped eight of its last nine contests.
With the game tied at 2-2, Horcoff accepted a feed from Ales Hemsky in the slot and wristed a shot past Anderson for his 10th goal of the season and first in 12 career matches versus the Senators.
Prior to the contest, the Senators honored defenseman Chris Phillips for playing in his 1,000th game with the club on Thursday. All of the Ottawa players wore No. 4 in the pregame skate.
