Devils 3, Ducks 2 (SO)

DEVILS 3, DUCKS 2 (SO): Patrik Elias scored the decisive goal in the third round of the shootout as New Jersey defeated Anaheim for the 11th time in 12 meetings at home.

Rookie Adam Henrique and Alexei Ponikarovsky tallied in regulation while Martin Brodeur made 36 saves for the Devils, who improved to 7-1-2 in their last 10 contests.

With the shootout even at 1-1 after one round, Corey Perry missed the chance to put Anaheim ahead when his shot in the second round hit the post. Elias beat Jonas Hiller with a wrist shot on New Jersey's third try, and Brodeur denied Ducks captain Ryan Getzlaf to seal the win.

After a scoreless first period, Henrique scored from the high slot 1:25 into the second for a 1-0 lead. Ponikarovsky doubled the advantage midway through the session when he converted a pass from Dainius Zubrus following a turnover.

Perry halved the deficit with less than four minutes remaining with his sixth goal in four games. Defenseman Sheldon Brookbank knotted the contest with 2:13 to play in the third, beating Brodeur from the inner edge of the right faceoff circle for his first goal since March 31, 2009.

Getzlaf believed he won the game 70 seconds into overtime, but his goal was waved off following a video review as he was ruled to have kicked the puck into the net from the doorstep.

Hiller stopped 25 shots for Anaheim, which is 4-0-2 on its eight-game road trip.
