Predators 3, Stars 2
PREDATORS 3, STARS 2: Captain Shea Weber scored a power-play goal with less than a second remaining in the first period and Colin Wilson tallied in the second as Nashville held on to edge Dallas and halt a four-game road losing streak.
Rookie Gabriel Bourque also scored and Pekka Rinne made 22 saves for the Predators, who won for just the sixth time in their last 24 visits to Dallas.
The Stars opened the scoring less than seven minutes into the game on Michael Ryder's 23rd goal of the season. Mike Ribeiro came out from behind the net and dished the puck to Ryder, who beat Rinne from the slot to extend his points streak to six games.
The Predators took over from there as Bourque deflected David Legwand's shot from the left faceoff circle past Kari Lehtonen with 4:21 remaining in the first period and Weber buried a rebound less than a second before the session ended, giving Nashville a 2-1 edge.
Matt Halischuk had his goal midway through the second waved off as video review showed he knocked the puck into the net with his glove. But the Predators extended their lead with less than four minutes to play when Wilson beat Lehtonen with a backhander from the left hash marks for his 12th tally.
Defenseman Alex Goligoski scored late in the third and Lehtonen stopped 18 shots for the Stars, who have lost seven of their last 10 games.
Dallas, which was without All-Star Jamie Benn for the second straight night due to a cut behind his knee, has scored two goals or less in eight of its last 10 contests.
