RANGERS 3, HURRICANES 2: Marian Gaborik scored his 30th goal and added an assist in the second period as visiting New York came from behind to defeat Carolina.

Gaborik gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead, tapping in a rebound at the left post with 5:07 remaining in the second period. He reached the 30-goal plateau for the seventh time in his career.

Artem Anisimov and Brandon Prust also scored goals and Derek Stepan chipped in with two assists for New York. The Rangers are the first team in the league to win 20 games both at home and on the road.

Jay Harrison pulled Carolina within 3-2 with 39.7 seconds left in the game.

Carolina’s Jeff Skinner scored the game’s first goal 58 seconds into the second period on the power play. Eric Staal (two assists) set Skinner up to extend his point streak to 10 games.

Anisimov tied the game 1-1 at 8:21, zipping a shot past Carolina goalie Cam Ward from the left circle after a nifty pass by Gaborik.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rangers’ captain Ryan Callahan missed the game with a bruised foot.
