Stars 3, Oilers 1

STARS 3, OILERS 1: Radek Dvorak and Tomas Vincour scored in the second period and Kari Lehtonen came within 30 seconds of a shutout as Dallas began its three-game road trip with a win over Edmonton.

Michael Ryder added an empty-net goal for the Stars, who extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1) and improved to 4-1-2 in their last seven on the road.

After a scoreless first period, Dvorak got Dallas on the board just over 8 1/2 minutes into the second. Goalless since Dec. 1, Dvorak buried a loose puck in the crease for his fourth tally of the season.

The Stars doubled the lead 4:20 later on Vincour's third goal of the campaign.

Defenseman Philip Larsen took a shot from the right faceoff circle that was partially blocked and went wide. The puck caromed off the end boards and hit the side of the net before Vincour tapped it in while standing alone in the crease as Nikolai Khabibulin was bumped out of position by teammate Corey Potter.

Ryder sealed the outcome with an empty-netter with 1:28 remaining in the third. But Sam Gagner scored 58 seconds later to prevent Lehtonen, who made 19 saves, from recording his third shutout of the season.

Khabibulin stopped 12 shots for the Oilers, who have lost six of seven at home.
