JETS 5, STARS 2: Captain Andrew Ladd had a pair of goals to help host Winnipeg snap a two-game slide and improve its position in the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

The Jets outskated a fatigued Stars team to move within four points of the Washington Capitals for the eighth and final playoff spot in the East.

Dallas was playing the second game of a back-to-back and had its six-game winning streak snapped. The Stars had previously earned points in 11 straight games.

Winnipeg jumped out to an early 1-0 lead 2:21 into the contest when Nik Antropov fired a wrister past Richard Bachman from the circle.

The Jets erupted in the second frame with four goals courtesy of Evander Kane, Eric Fehr and a pair from Ladd to take a commanding 5-0 lead. Blake Wheeler assisted on both Ladd’s goals.

Loui Eriksson scored his 24th and 25th goals for the Stars.

Ondrej Pavelec made 26 saves for his 26th win.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
